in the journal were kept records of all troop movements, enemy positions, new territories captures etc. The photos we took functioned as pathological slides stained with codes and values. These photos were then read as either malignant or benign conditions. we scanned the images for some flattering detail, some sign of our presence in the 'natural order' of things
